About the Artist

Michalis Goumas (b. 1984, Kythnos, Greece) is a multidisciplinary artist who merges photography and painting into poetic, visual experiences. Inspired by the Aegean landscape, ancient myths, and the human body, Goumas began his career as a painter in oils.

He gained international recognition with his acclaimed photographic series Summer Renaissance, capturing bodies in water with a painterly, sacred elegance.

With Anagenesis, Goumas takes his exploration of light, skin, and stillness even further.

The Exhibition: Anagenesis

Anagenesis, meaning rebirth, delves into the space between myth and skin, between stillness and movement.

Shot in the sea—where bodies float and time slows—these images echo timeless myths: Achilles & Patroclus, Apollo & Hyacinthus, Zeus & Ganymedes.

The eight works radiate presence, light, and sensual quiet.

Anagenesis invites the viewer to slow down, to look closely, to immerse themselves in a meditative, mythic world.
