Over de Kunstenaar

Michalis Goumas (geb. 1984, Kythnos, Griekenland) is een multidisciplinair kunstenaar die fotografie en schilderkunst samenbrengt in poëtische, visuele ervaringen. Geïnspireerd door het Egeïsche landschap, oude mythen en het menselijk lichaam begon Goumas zijn carrière als olieverfschilder.

Internationale erkenning verwierf hij met zijn veelgeprezen fotografische reeks Summer Renaissance, waarin lichamen in water worden vastgelegd met een schilderachtige, sacrale elegantie.

Met Anagenesis verdiept Goumas zijn onderzoek naar licht, huid en stilte nog verder.

De Tentoonstelling: Anagenesis

Anagenesis, wat wedergeboorte betekent, verkent de ruimte tussen mythe en huid, tussen stilte en beweging.

Gefotografeerd in de zee—waar lichamen drijven en de tijd vertraagt—roepen deze beelden tijdloze mythen op: Achilles & Patroklos, Apollo & Hyacinthus, Zeus & Ganymedes.

De acht werken stralen aanwezigheid, licht en sensuele rust uit.
Anagenesis nodigt de toeschouwer uit om te vertragen, aandachtig te kijken en zich onder te dompelen in een meditatieve, mythische wereld.

About the Artist

Michalis Goumas (b. 1984, Kythnos, Greece) is a multidisciplinary artist who brings photography and painting together to create poetic visual experiences. Inspired by the Aegean landscape, ancient mythology, and the human body, Goumas began his artistic career as an oil painter. He gained international recognition with his acclaimed photographic series Summer Renaissance, in which bodies immersed in water are captured with a painterly, almost sacred elegance.With Anagenesis, Goumas deepens his exploration of light, skin, and stillness.

The Exhibition: Anagenesis

Anagenesis, meaning rebirth, explores the space between myth and skin, between stillness and movement. Photographed in the sea — where bodies float and time seems to slow — these images evoke timeless myths: Achilles & Patroclus, Apollo & Hyacinthus, Zeus & Ganymede. The eight works radiate presence, light, and sensual tranquillity. Anagenesis invites the viewer to slow down, look attentively, and immerse themselves in a meditative, mythical world.
